Gannon’s 2-0 start has paid off in the polls.
The Lady Knights’ women’s soccer team is 17th in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA)/Continental Tire NCAA Division II national rankings in the first poll of the season. Gannon also is second, behind PSAC opponent California, in the Atlantic Region rankings. The Mercyhurst women’s team (1-0-1) is fifth in the region rankings.
Reigning national champion Grand Valley State sits atop the national rankings.
The Lady Knights opened the regular season with back-to-back overtime victories — 2-1 over Edinboro and 1-0 against Mansfield. McDowell graduate Sammy Valloud, a junior midfielder, scored the winner against Mansfield in the home opener.
The Penn State Behrend women’s soccer team climbed one spot to sixth in the NSCAA/Continental Tire Division III Great Lakes Region poll this week.
The Lions (4-1) were rated seventh last week, but posted a pair of shutout last weekend at the Drew Invitational.
The Allegheny women (3-2-0) are 10th in the poll, which is topped by unbeaten Carnegie Mellon.
